Auto review: 2025 Acura ZDX is back with EV revenge
Published in Business News
As someone who owned an original Acura ZDX back in 2010, I believe the historically ugly crossover SUV failed due to its futuristic design and coupe-like tail, which was years ahead of its time. Now consumers love coupe-shaped SUVs and are gaga for the German automakers' stylish designs.
The ZDX name plate is back for 2025, but this time as an all-electric five-passenger SUV with one of the smoothest rides I have ever experienced.
Utilizing General Motors Ultium platform, shared with the Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Blazer EV, the Acura ZDX is outstanding. Its Orchid White interior was so plush, so comfortable, I imagined myself in my 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix Convertible or even my worn-in sofa. To say the ride was exceptional is an understatement.
Our 2025 Acura ZDX Type-S tester was wrapped in Double Apex Blue Pearl, which is a real standout. Powering the Ultium platformed Acura ZDX, is a dual-electric all-wheel drive 102 kWh battery with 190 kWh DC fast charging. We showed 302 miles on a full charge, while the ratings called for 278 miles. Monstrous yellow Brembo brake calipers were also visible, giving the yellow-accent color a real flare. Additionally, 22-inch wheels and adaptive air-suspension were standard. Heads-up display, an 11.3-inch color touchscreen and 11-inch digital instrument cluster were also standard on the ZDX Type-S.
Acura remains a top brand in Grasso’s Garage, as their vehicles continue to deliver excellence in styling, comfort and design. And power is never understated. The Acura ZDX delivers 499 horsepower and 544 pound-feet of torque. This combination delivers a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds. As the most comfortable SUV I have ever experienced, the nicest exterior of any EV in the market today, the Acura ZDX is a chart-topper in the high-performance EV SUV class. This one is a real winner, and if I am ever going to own an EV, this will easily be the one!
