CBP opens designated entrance for motorcycles at the San Ysidro border crossing

SAN DIEGO — Motorcycle riders entering the San Ysidro Port of Entry at the U.S.-Mexico border must use a newly designated entrance during certain morning hours, starting next week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Thursday.

Located near Lane 15 of the San Ysidro border crossing, the entrance will operate Monday through Friday from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. — typically the busiest time at the port.

The federal agency said it is implementing the entrance to “improve traffic flow and enhance operational efficiency for the traveling public.”

“This initiative supports CBP’s ongoing commitment to enforcing legitimate travel and improve the overall processing experience for travelers entering the United States through the San Ysidro Port of Entry,” the agency said in a news release.

CBP urged travelers to follow the posted signage and instructions from officers at the port of entry.
