Presley Gerber was reportedly living in a sober home rather than a licensed rehabilitation center when he died from a suspected drug overdose.

People who knew the 27-year-old model felt that Resolutions Living should have referred him to a facility that is legally authorized to offer detox, counseling, group sessions and treatment planning, according to TMZ.

NBC News reported that the Santa Monica operation where the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford died Sunday isn’t required to have the California state operating license needed by substance-use treatment centers.

Resolutions Therapeutic Services founder Reza Nabavi reportedly had his registered psychologist license temporarily revoked in 2006 for reasons unclear. He was said to have been placed on probation for five years and ordered to abstain from alcohol and controlled substances before launching the facility.

Resolutions Living advertises “daily chef-prepared meals, fully stocked pantries, and a 24/7 on-site staff that will support (residents) whenever they need it.”

TMZ said Gerber checked into the upscale Southern California facility on Saturday night. He died the following day.

He was reportedly taking ketamine prescribed by an unidentified doctor prior to his death. Friends of the young model expressed displeasure over that situation given Gerber’s history of addiction.

It’s not clear if that doctor has any association with a sober house or treatment center. No one has been charged in Gerber’s death. A toxicology report is expected to determine his cause of death.

Resolutions Living couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
