The return of Pixar's popular playthings tops the DVD releases for the week of Sept. 22.

"Toy Story 5": Woody, Buzz and co. tackle technology in the franchise's fifth entry that finds cowgirl toy Jessie trying to help her kid Bonnie make new friends, with competition from a new device in town — a tablet.

"Tech does have its place in the world of toys and kids, but with some bumpers on, as everyone discovers," writes Tribune News Service critic Katie Walsh in her review. "It’s a message of compromise, with everyone finding their place in a kid’s life, from tablets, to abandoned digital devices, to well-loved rag dolls. For Jessie, her emotional journey is learning how important she has been to all of her kids over the years, even if abandonment meant that she feared she was not enough."

"Scary Movie": The Wayans Brothers’ hit horror parody franchise returns with its sixth entry, reuniting many of the original film's stars, including Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon and Shawn Wayans, for another slice of meta madness.

"Young Washington": Historical drama depicts the early days of the French and Indian War in which a young George Washington first makes his mark. Starring Ben Kingsley, Mary-Louise Parker, Andy Serkis and, in the title role, newcomer William Franklyn-Miller; Jon Erwin directs.

"Evil Dead Burn": French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček takes the helm for the sixth installment in the horror franchise, a sequel to 2023's hit "Evil Dead Rise."

"I Love Boosters": Boots Riley, the writer-director of “Sorry to Bother You,” returns with this stylish crime satire centered on a trio of professional shoplifters (Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie and Taylour Paige) who set their sights on a ruthless fast-fashion mogul (Demi Moore).

"The Secret Agent": Set in Brazil in 1977, a university professor (Wagner Moura) flees to Recife where he hopes to escape persecution in the country. A lived-in portrait of the city, time and place, and a political thriller.

"Girls Like Girls": Directed by Hayley Kiyoko and inspired by her 2015 song and 2023 bestselling novel of the sam ename, this coming-of-age teen romance stars Maya da Costa and Myra Molloy.

"Faces of Death": Remake of the VHS-era "schlockmentary" that blended staged scenes and found footage by the filmmaking duo of director Daniel Goldhaber and screenwriter Isa Mazzei. Featuring Barbie Ferreira and Dacre Montgomery.

"Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass": A small-town girl (Zoey Deutch) faces a crisis in her relationship when her fiancé acts on his "celebrity sex pass," so she heads to L.A. to set things right.

"Landman: Season Two": Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ drama, set against the backdrop of the West Texas oil fields, features Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter and Andy Garcia.

"NCIS: The Twenty-Third Season": Season 23 of the long-running CBS procedural included the milestone 500th episode and the departure of series regular Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance.

"Outlander: Season 8": The final season of Starz's historical fantasy drama series based on the books of Diana Gabaldon.

OUT ON DIGITAL HD SEPT. 22

"Super Troopers 3": The Broken Lizard comedy team returns with their second sequel to 2001’s “Super Troopers," with Jay Chandrasekhar back in the director’s chair.

"Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma": An indie filmmaker (Hannah Einbinder) reviving a slasher franchise has a spooky, spiritual, empowering encounter with the film's star (Gillian Anderson) at an abandoned summer camp. Written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun.

"Ice Cream Man': A small town is terrorized by a demonic ice cream vendor in Eli Roth's latest horror flick.

"Idiots": The latest comedy from writer-director Macon Blair — about a pair of bozos hired to take a rich teen to rehab — boasts the appealing ensemble of Dave Franco, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Mason Thames, Kiernan Shipka, Nicholas Braun and Peter Dinklage.
