NEW YORK — Bobb’e J. Thompson, well-known for playing Raven’s annoying neighbor on “That’s So Raven,” is heading to federal prison.

The former child star on Thursday was ordered to spend 30 months behind bars after he pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a gun, the U.S. attorney’s office for the Northern District of Iowa announced. He must also serve a three-year term of supervised release following his time in prison.

The decision came just more than a year after he was arrested in in Cerro Gordo County, where he was caught driving 104 mph in a 70 mph zone the night of Sept. 22, 2025. As officers approached the vehicle, which smelled of marijuana, they observed Thompson switch seats with the passenger, prosecutors noted.

Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered a loaded .40-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen from Kansas City, Missouri. Their search also uncovered several bags of marijuana.

As of Friday, 30-year-old Thompson remained in United States Marshal’s custody, awaiting transport to a federal prison.

It’s also not the first time he’s had legal trouble. His criminal history includes a 2020 conviction for battery with serious bodily injury and a 2020 conviction for assault with force (possibly resulting in great bodily injury). He was also convicted in 2022 for prohibited possession of a firearm, according to the U.S attorney’s office.

In addition to “That’s So Raven,” Thompson appeared in NBC’s “30 Rock” as Tracy Morgan’s son, Tracy Jr. and Jimmy Mitchell on “The Tracy Morgan Show.” He also starred in the movie “Role Models” alongside Paul Rudd, Seann William Scott and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. More recently, he appeared on MTV’s comedy show “Wild ‘N Out.”
