It’s been more than six weeks since Perez Hilton appeared to engage in shocking acts of self-harm during a livestream at his Miami-area home.

According to ongoing updates on his official website, the celebrity blogger is currently in a residential treatment center after recovering from physical injuries sustained in the alarming Aug. 4 TikTok Live.

It is unclear how long Hilton (real name Mario Lavandeira Jr.) will remain in the facility, but as per those close to him, the 48-year-old father of three is lucid and communicative. Contrary to a recent Daily Mail report, the Internet pioneer has not suffered memory loss, hasn’t inquired about his old friend Katy Perry and does not think it’s 2016.

And now, the newest update about Hilton’s situation pertains to his finances.

On Sept. 17, the blogger’s close friend Tom D’Angora set up a GoFundMe to help his mother Teresita Lavandeira care for the influencer’s three young kids, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8. The 72-year-old Cuban widow filed for temporary custody shortly after the disturbing incident.

“Like any grandmother who suddenly finds herself responsible for raising three growing children, she’s also taken on significant and unexpected expenses,” explains the online petition. “She’s put much of her own life on hold to make sure the kids can continue going to school, participating in their normal activities, and having as much consistency as possible during an incredibly difficult time.”

Angora, an award-winning Broadway producer, stresses that all money will go to her and the children, and not to Hilton personally.

“It’s been heartbreaking to watch someone I care about very much, along with his entire family who I also care very deeply for, go through this,” says the petition. “More than anything, I want to see Perez recover and return to a happy and fulfilling life as a father, son, brother, and a great friend.”

Judging by some of the comments under an X post promoting the GoFundMe, it appears some folks are reluctant to donate to the cause. Some assume Hilton, who is currently trying to sell his Las Vegas mega-mansion, is wealthy.

Hilton put the six-bedroom, six and a half bathroom house on the market for $4.25 million before relocating to his hometown following a serious battle with sepsis complications in March. His team recently slashed the price of the 7,000 square foot custom-built property by $350,000.

“That family needs to keep the lifestyle that the rest of the country can’t afford?” complained one social media user.

“I took custody of my grandkids and never considered asking for handouts,” griped another. “Figure the s--t out.”

“This is something else. I’m struggling as a single mom trying to keep my utilities on and my kids fed,” added a fellow critic. “But a celebrity’s family is asking for money.”

The controversial fundraiser, which did also receive its share of positive comments/well wishes, was set at $25,000. As of Monday morning, it had reached about half of its goal.
