Zach Bryan breaks Gillette Stadium record in 'Free Palestine' shirt

Country singer Zach Bryan broke Gillette Stadium’s all-time attendance record on the second consecutive night he wore a “Free Palestine” T-shirt to perform in Robert Kraft’s Massachusetts venue.
“Tonight, Zach Bryan broke the Gillette Stadium attendance record with 73,538 fans!” the stadium confirmed following his Saturday night show.
Pop star Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour recently lost its opening acts, including Macklemore, when the Seattle rapper upset Kraft after declaring “Free Palestine” at an Sept. 4 concert in New Jersey. Kraft made clear Macklemore wasn’t welcome in his stadium due to his political rhetoric. Sheeran said tour promoters worried other venue operators would follow suit and forced his hand in firing Macklemore from the tour.
Bryan performed Friday wearing a shirt supportive of Palestinian territories that were invaded in October 2023 after Hamas terrorists operating in Gaza attacked Israeli civilians. The 30-year-old “I Remember Everything” singer sported the same tee reading “Free Palestine, an Appeal to Heaven” on Saturday night when he played Kraft’s stadium before a record crowd.
Fans on social media noted that video of the show shared by Gillette Stadium on social media used long shots of Bryan that didn’t show his shirt.
The stadium’s website lists the venue’s capacity at 64,628.
Sheeran planned to perform his scheduled Sept. 25 and Sept. 26 shows at Gillette Stadium without his supporting acts, but the gigs were canceled when a dangerous nor’easter storm hit the East Coast.
Macklemore responded to his ouster by announcing a “Free Palestine” tour that quickly sold-out stadiums in Ireland, London and France.
Bryan’s “Word on the Street” tour continues Saturday with two shows in Washington. Sheeran plays in Indianapolis that night.
